The RMMJ CharterThe rec.music.makers.jazz newsgroup is for discussion among jazz musicians about the making of jazz. This includes approaches to improvisation, music theory, practice techniques, education, composing, arranging, and performance. It may also include business aspects of being a jazz musician. Topics of more general interest to fans, such as jazz history, biography, or discography, are usually more appropriate for rec.music.bluenote. Discussions that are specific to a given instrument and not as specific to jazz, such as equipment choices, are usually more appropriate for one of the instrument-specific newsgroups. Binaries and commercial postings are not permitted except as allowed by general Usenet guidelines. |
